Through a one-of-kind partnership with San Diego State University, Helix has been granted the opportunity to pilot a Sports Social Work program. Student-athletes will have access to dedicated social workers in the Sports Medicine Facility. These social workers will use their expertise and knowledge in mental health, social emotional learning, and athletics to provide intentional care.

Social workers will have the opportunity to meet with teams, individuals and even our staff. They have many tools and are prepared to help student-athletes in the area of depression, anxiety, suicidality, trauma, nutrition, sleep and even academics. 

The Sports Social Workers will work along side our Certified Athletic Trainers to ensure that our student-athletes are receiving care and treatment for the whole athlete.
